Description:

Student goals:
Understand and develop their piece of writing using the writing process; prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing.
Write--using all the steps of the writing process-- 3 narratives.
Take a quiz to assess understanding of revision and editing.
Will be provided with a poorly written narrative, which they must rewrite making all necessary changes.

Students will understand that:
Narratives allow us to share stories (both fiction and nonfiction)
There is a correlation between organization and effectiveness of writing.
The recursive writing process consists of planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. And doing this again until the writing demonstrates your best writing.
Graphic organizers are tools that can help writers to brainstorm ideas and sequence events.
Good grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting are important to make writing clear.
Details help audiences to picture what they are reading.

Course Outline:

Week 1: why we practice/learn descriptive writing.
total 10 lessons
Week 2: Show me sentences.
Week 3: What do you see?
Week 4: Review on revision and editing of a descriptive paper.
Week 5: write a descriptive essay
