Tailored for 4th and 5th-grade students, this course places dedicated emphasis on refining reading comprehension strategies through a structured curriculum. With a particular focus on two carefully selected books for in-depth study, students will engage in a weekly written response to enhance their analytical and interpretative skills. The course further includes a comprehensive schedule comprising weekly writing assignments, providing students with opportunities to express their thoughts coherently. Additionally, participants will engage in the editing process for three essays, honing their writing proficiency through constructive feedback and revisions. The holistic approach of this course aims to not only strengthen reading comprehension but also foster effective written communication skills in 4th and 5th-grade students. Special attention is given to learning and analyzing descriptive writing, persuasive writing, and poetry.
